Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil – What’s The Difference?

There is a lot of confusion out there on what the difference between hemp oil and CBD (cannabidiol) oil along with the benefits of each one. 

First, it is important to know that “Hemp Oil” is another way that people associate and refer to CBD oil. However, some people may refer to hemp seed oil as hemp oil. Hemp seed oil and CBD oil are 2 very different products. 

While the two are derived from the same plant, CBD oil comes from the entire plant while hemp oil is extracted from just the seeds. 

Both CBD oil and Hemp oil offer many healthy benefits. 

Hemp Oil: Very similar to other cooking oils and is used in cooking and a lot of skincare and topical products. 

CBD Oil: Used a lot in the alternative/holistic medicine area to naturally treat many underlying conditions. 

What's The Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana?

Hemp and CBD oil are both varieties of the marijuana cannabis plant. Hemp is defined as a cannabis plant that contains 0.3% or less THC, while marijuana is a cannabis plant that contains more than 0.3% THC (typically around 15% – 30%). 

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects that it has one people. Hemp contains many vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that provide significant health benefits.

Both Hemp and CBD oil can provide powerful benefits to humans and animals in a variety of uses: 

  1. CBD oil has many anti-inflammatory benefits throughout the body. Many scientists believe that inflammation is the cause of many underlying diseases.The anti-inflammatory action of CBD oil is being studied in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, and Multiple Sclerosis.

     

  2. CBD oil Reduces Pain: While studies are still active on the effects of CBD oil that it has for reducing pain, no one is certain as to why at this point but it is speculated that it may be due to the many anti-inflammatory benefits.

     

  3. CBD oil has been found to help reduce anxiety by affecting the sensitivity of serotonin receptors in your brain. Research has shown that Serotonin levels help treat anxiety and depression. Additionally, many prescription medications that treat antidepressant work to regulate Serotonin levels.

  4. Ingesting CBD oil has been shown to be effective in treating acne. Acne is believed to be the least partially caused by inflammation which stimulates the overproduction of oil in the sebaceous glands. CBD oil helps the body produce sebum. Sebum is an oily (waxy-like) substance produced in the sebaceous glands and combined with the anti-inflammatory properties found in CBD oil is the ultimate combo for treating acne 100% naturally.
